Opening plan - Academic year 2021-2022

As the epidemic situation has taken a turn for the better, and as a result of the successful vaccination program in Hungary, Óbuda University is also to return to its usual work schedule by taking currently effective legal regulations into account.

In a number of cases, Government Decree 484/2020 (XI. 10.) currently in effect subjects the use of certain services also related to higher education studies – such as visiting public libraries, museums, sports facilities, gyms and fitness parlors, swimming pools and ice skating rinks, and participation in cultural events, music, dance and sports programs – to the presentation of a Hungarian immunity certificate, which can only be acquired with Hungarian vaccination or along the international agreements. This also applies to programs organized at Óbuda University.

In order to protect the health of students, professors and staff, you are kindly requested to get vaccinated against the coronavirus to be able to bring the next academic year to a successful conclusion and to prevent the fourth wave of the epidemic from breaking out.

We draw your attention to the fact, that the opening plan takes into account the legislation in force at the time and the instructions issued by the Rector and Chancellor of Óbuda University. Taking into account the possibility of rule changes, the University of Óbuda also reserves the right to change these plans.

Entry rules:

According to the legislation currently in force in Hungary, entry can only be approved by the police. Entrants must be quarantined for 10 days. Vaccinated citizens of foreign countries with which the Hungarian state has previously concluded a bilateral agreement are exempt from these regulations.

As the rules change continuously concerning the above issues, please visit the following websites and check the information.

Education:

According to students’ and professors’ feedback, everybody is looking forward to return to the usual bustling and creative university life. We plan to start academic year 2021/2022 with education in-person. If necessary, a hybrid form of education can also be applied – within the scope of technical capabilities – primarily in the case of lectures with a large headcount.

Orientation week:

The International Education Office is organising an orientation week from 30 August until 3 September 2021 to help international students starting their academic year in the Fall semester. The scholarship holder students will be informed about the schedule in a separate letter later on.
