Visiting the Parliament
Visiting the Parliament
On 7th April some lucky foreign and Hungarian students (studying at the University of Óbuda) had a special welcome in the Parliament of Hungary. After the guided tour in a foreign language, Mr István Hiller, the Vice-president of the Parliament, personally greeted the group of the University in his office. Thus the group had the opportunity to take a glimpse into the duties of a vice-president, not only getting to know the Parliament.
Mr István Hiller shared interesting stories with the group from the memories of the past 20 years. We could see the handcrafted coconut which he got as a gift from the Indonesian Minister, we also saw the luckbringing bird of Egyptian Minister (its head should be stroked once a day), moreover, the remnants of the banknotes (valued about 7 million HUF) which got rattled off by the Hungarian National Bank. The luckiest ones could sit in Sir Hiller’s vice-presidential chair, with less luck you could “only” sit to his conference table, in which Vice-President greeted loads of ambassadors.
Many thanks to Dezső Hiszékeny (parliamentarian) and to Balázs Váradi - the co-leader of the ESN Óbuda for helping in organizing and carrying out the visit.
Furthermore, Thanks to István Hiller Vice-President and His group for the pleasant welcome!
